The Most Efficient Way to Prepare Your EB2 NIW Petition Letter
I secured my approval without RFE as a finance professional with only masters and no academic research background at all.

Start with Prong 2 while simultaneously reaching out to potential recommenders. List out all your achievements, big and small, from undergrad onward—whether it’s academic degrees, awards, or your involvement in specific projects at school or work.
Next, tackle Prongs 1 and 3 together. You can use tools like ChatGPT or DeepSeek to help you refine your proposed endeavor. It should be concrete, actionable starting today, and clearly lead to outcomes with national importance. (As someone working in finance, my personal favorite angle is applying financial modeling to articulate the economic benefits.) At the same time, think ahead about how you’ll argue the key points of Prong 3: urgency, impracticality of labor certification, whether the benefits clearly outweigh the cost of the PERM process, or if your proposed endeavor inherently can’t be executed through a PERM-based role.
Save the actual recommendation letters for last. I personally believe it’s best to have recommenders sign only once the rest of the petition letter is finalized. One key purpose of recommendation letters is to support claims where objective documentation may be limited. If you get letters too early and later realize you need to address new points in your petition, going back for updated signatures can be a hassle. Out of respect for my independent recommenders, I made sure to get their agreement early—but only finalized and sent them the letter to sign once everything else was ready.
